This is something we need to work on. Eaglet is seven, and still comes into our bed halfway though the night and still needs someone in the room with them (preferably in their bed) to go to sleep. They do not self-soothe well and hate being or playing alone. We did no sleep training early because we adopted them as a toddler from another country, and no effing way were we going to do something like sleep training until their attachment was secure, which took several years. For the past couple, we've been hoping they'll grow out of it, encouraged by small developmental signs, but not much progress has been made, and we're trying to figure out what's the best way to move forward.
Best of luck with Kit. Sounds like promising progress so far, hard as it's been.
